Faecal Elastase

Please ensure that stool samples are not over-filled, nor under-filled. We require a minimum of 2 heaped scoops (i.e. scoop that is connected to the stool container) and a maximum of half full.

Test Usage

Faecal elastase testing may be used in the diagnosis or exclusion of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, which can be caused by chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus, cholelithiasis, ‘failure to thrive’, pancreatic cancer or papillary stenosis, for example.
