The Blood Transfusion departments at RD&E and NDH provide a comprehensive diagnostic service across Devon. The departments have accreditation with UKAS and are compliant with the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations (MHRA). The department also maintains IBMS training status for Biomedical Scientists.
The laboratories are open for routine work everyday from 7:30am to 5:30pm with an out of hours service running for the rest of the time.

The Blood Transfusion Department provides a service for provision of blood components and products to patients within the RDUH as well as those in satellite renal units and Community Hospitals. The department also processes blood grouping and antibody screening tests for out-patients, in-patients and antenatal patients.
The laboratory is located in room A204 on Level 2, Template A of the Wonford site and Level 1 Pathology at the Barnstaple site.
