Fresh Specimens

(Including lymph nodes and lymph node core biopsies for possible lymphoma in saline)

The department must be notified in advanced of all fresh samples being delivered to the laboratory.  Please bring directly to Histology reception, do not leave at Pathology reception.  Bring specimens to the laboratory immediately.

Please note: 

• If the specimen is expected to be delivered out of hours, please contact the laboratory in advance.
• Samples which cannot be handled out of hours, should be refrigerated and delivered to the laboratory the next working day.
• Please do not submit fresh specimens to the lab which are suspected or known to have Hepatitis B or C, HIV/AIDS or nvCJD. Such specimens must be sent in formalin.
