Cytology team receive Royal College of Pathologists Achievement Award 2025

Congratulations to our Diagnostic Cytology Team on their recent Royal College of Pathologists (PCPath) Achievement Award.

RCPath Achievement Awards are given to teams who demonstrate excellence in pathology practise and promote high standards in pathology education, training and research to deliver the best patient care. The 2025 Achievement Awards celebrates excellence in pathology service provision through teamwork.

The Diagnostic Cytology Team were recognised for their biomedical scientist-led Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) service which supports the upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) at RD&E and the Head, Neck and Thyroid clinics across both sites at the Royal Devon. The ROSE service at North Devon Hospital was implemented following the Trust merger and has been described as ‘revolutionary’ by radiologists there. The Cytology team have worked hard to develop their skills in order to provide and expand the ROSE service from 4 to 8 clinics per week. These clinics not only provide an excellent patient service, but they also have significantly impacted cancer pathways and been cost-efficient.

The full article, including all 5 winning teams, is available here: https://www.rcpath.org/discover-pathology/news/celebrating-the-2025-rcpath-achievement-award-winners.html

The Cytology team would like to thank those who took the time to complete the nomination and are grateful to be recognised by the Royal College.
