Test Usage

IgE antibodies mediate Type I allergic reactions, allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis and anaphylaxis.

Total IgE is elevated in patients with multiple allergies and parasitic infestations.  

Very high levels, above 1000 IU/L, are found with atopic dermatitis, fungal sinusitis, allergic pulmonary aspergillosis, lymphoma and liver disease. IgE myeloma is very rare.
