Microbiology consults made via Epic or emails via Microconsultants will be answered from 0900-1630 Monday-Friday. Consults made outside of these times will not receive a same day response.

Microbiology consults should contain the following information:

Summary: Presenting complaint, history of presenting complaint, duration of admission, abx given & duration, relevant results (microbiological & imaging etc).
Clinical impression
Clinical question for Microbiologist to answer

For Outpatient queries, the Emergency Department or for clinically unwell patients requiring urgent advice contact the microbiology department on 2962 between 0900-1630

Outside of these hours clinical advice can be sought via switchboard by Registrars, Fellows and Consultants only.
