Patients Who Refuse Blood

Most Jehovah’s Witnesses, and individuals with other beliefs, will not accept the transfusion of blood components or their derivatives. This includes red cells, FFP, cryoprecipitate and platelets. Absolute rules do not exist for example, individual patients may accept certain blood components, or products (e.g. albumin, immunoglobulins, anti-D Ig), on an personal choice basis.
